This made-from-scratch white cake is the vanilla version of the original Texas Sheet Cake and is every bit as good as the chocolate version.
This cake gets better the longer it sits, so go ahead and make it a day ahead. A dear friend introduced this deliciously rich sheet cake to me. With its creamy frosting and light vanilla flavor, you’ll love it. It’s a classic cake, moist and easy to make. Wait to prepare the frosting until the cake is done cooking. The frosting will set up quickly and will be difficult to spread if made too far in advance.
Instead you pour the frosting over the warm cake, so it kind of works its way into the cake and makes it incredibly moist. It almost just melts in your mouth. How great is that?
Every time I serve this I get great reactions. So, so good!

This cake is even better the next day. It's designed to be made in a standard 13 inch by 18 inch half baking sheet to serve a large group, so don't substitute a different pan size. When ready to serve cut in 5 by 8 rows to produce 40 servings.
Preheat oven to 350°. Grease a 13 x 18 inch baking pan.
In a separate large bowl, stir together sugar, water, melted butter, sour cream, eggs, and coconut extract until combined.
Can be made and frosted and kept at room temperature for up to 3 days. Cover it lightly with plastic wrap to protect it from dust, etc. Cakes both frosted and unfrosted, cut and un-cut, are perfectly fine at room temperature for several days. Refrigeration is only necessary if your kitchen gets very hot during the day (think bacteria feeding frenzy) or if you're making a cake that won't be served for more than three days.
To refrigerate, wrap unfrosted cakes in plastic to protect it from absorbing any weird fridge smells and to protect it from drying out, and then unwrap it to warm up on the counter before serving. For frosted cakes, chill the cake uncovered for fifteen minutes to harden the icing, then wrap it in plastic wrap.

I’ve been posting a lot of cookie recipes lately getting ready for our Church Youth conference. I’ve been using our church youth and ladies and Jeff as my designated taste testers. Hey, someone’s gotta do it after all.

Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, combine cake mix and baking powder. In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, oil, and vanilla by hand until well combined.
Pour egg mixture into bowl with cake mixture. Stir until a dough forms. Be sure to fully combine. Mix in the white chocolate chips.
Drop rounded balls of the dough onto your baking sheet. Since they flatten out quite a bit, make sure the balls are taller than wide on your cookie sheet, about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 10 minutes. Do not let them brown in the oven. Once slightly cooled remove from sheets to finish cooling on wire racks. Cookies will appear slightly undercooked, but that's ok. They firm up and flatten as they cool. Allow to cool for at least 10 minutes. Enjoy!
Cookies will stay fresh, covered, at room temperature for up to 1 week. You can make the cookie dough in advance and hold it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Allow dough to come to room temperature before spooning it onto the prepared baking sheet. Alternatively you can freeze your baked cookies up to 3 months. Or freeze your unbaked cookie dough balls for up to 3 months. Bake the frozen cookie dough balls for an extra minute, without thawing.

Nothing’s better than a classic sugar cookie. Except maybe a sugar cookie dipped in powdered sugar with wonderful crunchy “crinkles”. The buttery goodness and the real vanilla make these cookies heavenly. The distinctive “crinkle” is produced from the combination of baking powder and baking soda.
Did you know that crinkle cookies “crinkle” and spread better if the dough is at room temperature? If the dough is cold it takes more time for the butter to melt. As a result, the dough will set before the butter is melted and the cookie has spread out and “crinkled”. Good news for us since we can save the time of sending them for a stay in the refrigerator.
Rolling the cookie dough in the sanding sugar or granulated sugar helps it “crinkle” by absorbing moisture and dissolving early in the oven. Later it re-crystalizes and pulls even more moisture from the top of the cookie.

In a small bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; set aside.
Shape dough into approximately 60 (1 1/4-inch) balls. In one small bowl, place 1 1/2 cups sanding sugar or granulated sugar and in a second small bowl place 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar. Roll each cookie first in the sanding sugar or granulated sugar, then in the powdered sugar. Place on the prepared cookie sheets approximately 2 inches apart.
Can be made in advance and stored, layered between wax paper in an airtight container, up to 3 days at room temperature and up to 3 months in the freezer.

“Crownies”, my husband says. “You could call ‘em Crownies.”
Me – No, no that sounds too fifties-ish.
“How about Brookies?” he suggests helpfully.
Me – Yug. Sounds like something you’d go fly-fishing for, if you went fly-fishing. Which you don’t.
“Crookies?”
Me – I give up. Fine, we’ll call ’em Crookies.
“It really doesn’t matter. Just so long as you make them. Now?” he adds hopefully.
Enjoy the BEST of both worlds with this great mash-up of cookies and brownies!
Take them out of the oven when they are dry around edges but still somewhat wet-looking in the middle. They will fall apart if you try to eat them warm (gooey but yummy!), but they are perfect when they cool and even better the next day. Fantastic!! Pressing the M&Ms onto the tops, makes them more visible and colorful.

These Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookies are crispy on the edges and chewy in the middle. Absolutely perfect!! They even stay fresh for several days (not that they’ll last that long). These really are excellent cookies. Keep your dough in the fridge between batches. The warmer your dough (and butter) is, the more it will spread.
Also, make sure and fluff your flour before measuring it. Use a spoon to add it to your measuring cup, don’t be tempted to scoop the flour. Better yet, use a scale. It’s one of my most valuable kitchen tools. A cup of all-purpose flour weighs 4 1/4 ounces or 120 grams. You will be using 3 cups which is 12 3/4 ounces or 360 grams.

Do NOT scoop your flour (this will lead to a dense, tough cookie). Instead, before measuring, you need to aerate your flour. As it sits in the container it gets compacted. Use a fork to aerate your flour (fluff it up) then spoon it into a measuring cup. Finally, level off the cup with the back of a butter knife. I f you have scooped properly, a cup of flour should weigh 4.5 ounces or 120 grams.
Cream together the butter, white sugar, brown sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon baking soda and 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar until smooth. Beat in 2 eggs one at a time, then stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla and 2 teaspoons water. Stir in flour, 1 cup at a time, then stir in chocolate chips. Drop dough by walnut-sized spoonfuls onto the prepared pans. Flatten balls slightly.
May be stored, covered, in refrigerator for up to 3 days or in freezer in a freezer bag for up to 8 weeks.

This is a great dip for parties, weekends, cook outs, you name it. My business partner has a pair of miniature donkeys. Their names are Corn and Beans. This reminds me of them.
Serving size 3.5 ounces
Makes 4 pounds 11 ounces
Bake for approximately 25 to 30 minutes, or until cheese has melted and mixture is bubbly.
Can be made in advance, covered and refrigerated up to 2 days.
When ready to serve, pre-heat oven to 350 degrees and bake for approximately 30 minutes or until cheese has melted and mixture is bubbly.
